Open Labor promotes ongoing renewal of the Australian Labor Party and a more open, democratic and optimistic politics.
For over a century the ALP has fought for the big changes that have made Australia a better society. Yet the Labor Party has in recent years struggled to find the ideas needed to inspire.
Now, Australian Labor is part of a World-wide movement towards a more progressive and decent politics, driven in large part by climate change, the growth in income equality, the impact of globalisation and the new digital economy and a rejection of neo-liberal economics
This website is designed to make the workings of the ALP somewhat more transparent and accessible, concentrating on ALP rules, structures and processes.
Whilst all site content is moderated, we invite all party members, groups, affiliates and friends to contribute. Our editorial policy is respect, transparency, fact and hope.
We see a party building on its best values and traditions, becoming more open to change. We have few illusions about the size of the task, but we know most party members and friends want it – a party open to new people, ideas and methods, more democratic, more optimistic and better connected connects with its members, supporters and the public.
