12 March 2021: Wayne Swan, National ALP President wrote to members saying:
We’re just weeks away from Labor’s Special Platform Conference so I wanted to give you a quick update about preparations and what you can expect.
On the 30th and 31st of March, 400 delegates from across Australia will meet online to renew Labor’s National Platform. It’ll be key for our work in charting Labor’s agenda for the post-COVID recovery and how we can create more well-paid, secure jobs.
During conference, you’ll get the chance to hear from a number of keynote speakers and Labor activists. Shadow Ministers, our Party’s leadership and others will address conference and our online audience about the big issues facing Australia and how Labor should rise to meet those challenges.
For those watching along at home as a party member or supporter, you’ll be able to visit our newly launched Conference website to stay updated about the highlights of conference and watch a full livestream. If you know someone who wants to stay updated on conference, they can sign up here and we’ll keep them in the loop: https://alp.org.au/conference2021
We’re planning on showcasing the best of the best of conference, including live videos of selected speeches and behind-the-scenes content that will be exclusive for our online supporters.
While the conference will run during the day on the 30th and 31st, we’re also planning an evening session on 30th to be streamed in full online and it’s set to be some great viewing.
During this evening session, some special guests from our Labour movement will come together to inspire our movement about the kind of society that Australia needs to be.
But it will also be a key moment in kicking off the work that we need to do between now and the next election in order to elect an Albanese Labor government that is on your side.
It’s set to be a really engaging conference and we’re excited for you to see it unfold in just a few weeks.
Thanks for your support so far,
