OL & Independents pre-National Conference discussion was held via Zoom Tuesday, 16 March to discuss the new Draft Platform being prepared for the upcoming ALP National Conference on March 30 and 31, 2021.
Open Labor National Conference delegate James Button, Independents delegate Eric Dearricott and and proxy delegate Linda Condon discussed how they think National Conference would unfold, and listened to the many amendment proposals our supporters wish to see debated. The main item of conference business was to debate and approve the new Draft Platform.
As our National Conference looms, does our party understand how much the world is changing? At our OL pre-National Conference discussion Peter Holding of the Victorian ALP Economics Committee described his committee’s attempts to get the party leadership to take inequality seriously. He argues that Joe Biden’s near $2 trillion spending package shows a government that is prepared to spend serious money to address the inequality that is eroding democracy from within.
Read Peter Holden’s paper to the meeting: The ALP must tackle economic inequality.

Hi,
I am happy to see that many of my concerns which I shared with both the Labor’s, and Liberal,s MPs, and Senators over the past 12 years are being addressed in the ALP NATIONAL PLATFORM–FINAL DRAFT.
However, I do not see that my concern that I shared with Richard Marles MP’s office on Feb 2020 regarding including the motto “A modern and Fair Australia for ALL Australians” in the Platform.
It really needs to be included in your final draft, as most people are not going to read the whole platform, and you / we need the first impression and then those in the office, implement the platform so Australia as a whole see what a fair and sustainable Australia is going to look like.
To see how the life would look like when every aspect of their elected government’s policies are sustainable, Without thrill of getting rich overnight by rushed in/ and or biased policies to increase the asset values in the expense of those without asset, or fear of going bust resulting from an unsustainable property and asset sector bubble burst, which again the people without asset would suffer more due to its economic impact..
We not need to repeat history over and over again to understand that any unsustainable growth in any part of our day to day endeavor is not a blessing but a curse.
I also really like the idea of “avoiding creation of large groups of migrants from any single country”, as in one hand it will not help Australia’s sustainable growth, and on the other hand it will bring other problems, like in particular in the areas that they gain majority they will dominate the culture an prepare the ground for discrimination against minorities. This is already happening in front of our very own eyes if we look at it.
Thanks and best regards,
